My training is in computer science and cognitive sciences at Stanford and I have always had an interest in complex systems. I became interested in learning more about the complex nature of cancer through a fellow board member of the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Mike Brewer, who introduced me to Dr. Arnold Glazier in the fall of 2006. I attended a workshop organized by Glazier and Brewer in January of 2007 at the Van Andel Institute in Grand Rapids, MI to try to come to a collective understanding of the requirements (scientific, social, economic, politica) for a cure for cancer. The workshop was well-attended by a diverse cross-section of established and up-and-coming researchers, policy makiers and thinkers on the topic. Some of those attendees I have maintained a dialog with and are contributing to this effort to bring together others to stoke the fire that Arny started. Links about me:
